The New 52: Futures End #14
Ryan Sook's cover for The New 52: Futures End #14 (October 2014) is a striking triptych of tension, splitting the image into three distinct vignettes: a fierce confrontation between a dark-haired woman in red and the orange-masked Deathstroke, a red-and-gold armored figure strapped down and surrounded by mechanical components, and a wide-eyed woman bathed in eerie green light at the center — with a shadowy, cybernetic figure lurking at the bottom. The geometric composition feels almost like a dossier of crises unfolding simultaneously, hinting at the sprawling, multi-threaded storytelling that made this weekly series one of DC's most ambitious 2014 projects. With Azzarello, Lemire, Jurgens, and Giffen all on writing duties, there's no shortage of imagination fueling whatever dangers these characters are facing.
