“The Dark Loops, Part I”

Peter Milligan and Leandro Fernández's financial conspiracy thriller reaches its seventh chapter with "The Dark Loops, Part I." Celia Calle's cover is a quietly unsettling composition — a giant eye-like lens frames a figure curled and seemingly ensnared, overlaid with road map imagery and a network of names (Surgeon, Tara, Flaherty, Katya, Stoker, Walker and others) threaded together by red lines like some sprawling, blood-traced web of connections. It's a striking visual that captures the series' cold, cerebral dread perfectly, and with only two issues remaining in the nine-part run, the stakes feel palpably high.
