History

The series was relaunched directly from Thor (Vol. 3) #621, with Marvel choosing the rechristened 'Mighty' title to align the comic with the highly anticipated Thor theatrical film released in the same month — the first issue even carried a Thor Movie Variant cover and included behind-the-scenes film content. Writer Matt Fraction, who had already been steering the Thor franchise through the preceding volume, continued his run, reuniting with penciler Olivier Coipel, whose visual collaboration with Fraction had defined the look of that era's Asgardian stories; editor Ralph Macchio oversaw the issue. The series was conceived from the outset to operate alongside Fear Itself, Fraction's concurrent company-wide crossover event, with the Galactus Seed arc in issues #1–6 serving as a self-contained cosmic prologue before the title dove into Fear Itself tie-in territory starting with issue #7.
