George's new assistant, Lydia, pulls him away from his birthday party to reveal to him that she has secretly constructed an atomic bomb. She wants to use Spacely's rocket to meet the meteor and blow it up before it reaches Earth. George agrees to her plan, but at the last minute tricks her into staying behind and takes Rosie with him on the rocket. Through her research, Jane confirms that the underwater disturbance seems, in fact, to be terraforming Earth. George and Rosie reach the meteor and they and the rocket are obliterated by the subsequent atomic explosion.
