The Herculoids #8
In "The Rise and Fall of the Klaturian Empire!", Dorno—now the Overmind, the living will of the long-dead Klaturian empire—unfolds the tragic tale of his people’s rise to galactic dominance and their devastating fall at the hands of the Shaitan, a mysterious and terrifying force. Written by Tom Sniegoski and brought to life by Craig Rousseau’s dynamic art and Omi Remalante Jr.’s vivid colors, this issue reveals how the ancient Klaturians’ ambition led to their undoing—and how a signal from the Encephalon has set their long-lost legacy in motion. The unexpected response to that call sets the stage for a reckoning no one saw coming. Cover by Francesco Mattina.

Dorno, now functioning as “The Overmind”, the voice and embodiment of the ancient conqueror race known as the Klaturians - the original inhabitants Planet Amzot, tells the other Herculoids the story of the universe-conquerors taking a step too far and encountering the Shaitan - a fearsome wraith-like race that overwhelms them. The Overmind's mission is to reclaim the Klaturians' planet of origin (Amzot) and rebuild their warlike abilities. The Encephalon sends a signal to the Klaturians to "come home". The signal is received and... the unexpected occurs.
