“Power Loss”

From the New 52 era of DC Comics, this April 2015 issue puts the Scarlet Speedster in a genuinely precarious spot — the cover by Brett Booth and Norm Rapmund shows Flash dangling mid-air, gripped by a masked, armored villain perched on a rocky cliff edge, while an enormous black bird of prey swoops in against a storm-lit sky. The title "Power Loss" hints at the high stakes framing this struggle, and Booth's dynamic composition — crumbling rocks, smaller birds scattering below — sells the sense that Flash may be fighting this one at a serious disadvantage. Writers Robert Venditti and Van Jensen continue their New 52 run here, with colors by Andrew Dalhouse giving the whole scene a charged, electric energy.
