The Flash #1
The Scarlet Speedster bursts forward in a cascade of crackling lightning on Francis Manapul's cover for this New 52 launch issue, his determined gaze and outstretched hand radiating raw Speed Force energy. Manapul's linework crackles with kinetic confidence, wrapping the Flash in arcs of golden electricity that feel genuinely alive. With Manapul and Brian Buccellato sharing both writing and art duties, this 2011 series opener signals a fresh, visually distinctive chapter for one of DC's fastest heroes.

- Published September 28, 2011 by DC Comics as part of the 52-title New 52 relaunch; this is Volume 4 of The Flash ongoing series, set after the Flashpoint event.
- Written and drawn by Francis Manapul, with Brian Buccellato as co-writer and colorist — Manapul's first credited comics writing work, having previously served only as artist on the Johns-era Flash volume 3.
- First appearance of Manuel Lago and the villain collective Mob Rule (Manuel Lago's duplicates, born from a CIA regeneration experiment), the primary antagonists of the opening 'Move Forward' arc.
- The New 52 continuity established in this issue erases Barry Allen's marriage to Iris West; Barry is instead depicted in a developing relationship with CSI colleague Patty Spivot.
- Barry Allen is presented as roughly five years younger than his pre-Flashpoint incarnation, and superheroes in this timeline have only operated for approximately five years, making them objects of public suspicion.
- The issue shipped with at least two cover versions: the primary Manapul/Buccellato cover and an Ivan Reis/Tim Townsend variant; a Television Show Special Edition reprint was later produced to coincide with the CW Flash series launch.
- The 'Move Forward' arc (issues #1–8, or #1–7 depending on edition) was collected in both softcover and hardcover trade paperbacks, and the Manapul/Buccellato run through issue #25 was later collected in a 704-page omnibus hardcover (November 2016).
- Mob Rule received a canonical nod in the CW Flash TV series — Season 5, Episode 1 references Barry Allen having once phased an entire airplane while battling Mob Rule, confirming the character's cross-media footprint.
