The New 52's fastest man alive looks anything but fast here — the cover by Brett Booth and Norm Rapmund shows a crackling, lightning-wreathed Flash firmly in the grip of a massive, grotesquely muscled figure whose exposed anatomy makes him as unsettling as he is enormous. The cover copy poses a wicked little challenge: five minutes to save a life, and the Scarlet Speedster is currently being crushed — so the odds feel delightfully stacked. Robert Venditti, Van Jensen, Booth, Rapmund, and Andrew Dalhouse bring their full talents to this September 2014 issue, and if the cover is any measure, "A Step Behind" earns its title.
