The Flash #13
The "Gorilla Warfare" arc kicks off here in grand New 52 fashion, with Francis Manapul's cover art placing the scarlet speedster front and center — lightning crackling at his fist — as the massive, snarling visage of Gorilla Grodd looms ominously behind him alongside a hooded figure and a cluster of supporting characters gathered near a "Welcome to Central City" sign. Francis Manapul and Brian Buccellato's creative partnership was firing on all cylinders in 2012, and this striking image — Grodd's sheer size dwarfing everything around him — sets a tense, high-stakes tone before you've even cracked the cover. A great entry point into one of the more visually ambitious Flash runs of the era.
