“Ashes, Ashes...We All Fall Down!”

There's something wonderfully chaotic about a cover that promises Marvel Super-Heroes battling "side by side against… each other!" — and this May 1983 issue delivers exactly that energy. The Hulk looms large on the left, sword raised, squaring off against a bare-chested Namor on the right, while Doctor Strange, Valkyrie, Hellcat, and a small golden-costumed figure are caught in the clash between them. Cover pencils by Ron Wilson and inks by Terry Austin give the whole confrontation a crisp, kinetic charge that makes it hard to look away.
