The Batman Adventures #20
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis 1994 entry in DC's animated-style series delivers one of its more delightfully offbeat covers: Batman swoops down toward a speeding car while a goggled figure scrambles across its hood and a terrified driver grips the wheel — all seemingly secondary to the enormous, wide-eyed dog clutching a red-and-white starred ball in the foreground. Mike Parobeck's pencils and Rick Burchett's inks bring that warm, fluid energy of the animated series perfectly to the page, and the story's title, "Smells Like Black Sunday," hints at something wonderfully strange waiting inside. A fun reminder that the Batman Adventures run wasn't afraid to mix genuine tension with a raised eyebrow and a grin.
