The Batman Adventures #17
Issue #17 of The Batman Adventures presents one of the more unexpected images in the series' 1994 run: Batman astride a rearing black stallion, sword raised against a fiery orange sky, while a ring of armed adversaries closes in around him. The cover, penciled by Mike Parobeck and inked by Rick Burchett, captures the animated series' clean, bold style and places the Dark Knight in a surprisingly swashbuckling standoff. A small Batgirl vignette on the spine rounds out the package, and with the interior brought to life by writer Kelley Puckett and the same art team, "The Tangled Web" looks like a genuinely thrilling read.
