“The Man Who Swallowed Eternity: Part One: The Energy of the Universe Is Constant”

Issue seven of DC's The All New Atom arrives in March 2007 with a cover by José Ladrönn that immediately telegraphs a story of divided worlds — the Atom stands at the center in his red-and-blue costume, crackling with energy, while two imposing figures in heavy green coats flank him on either side, each rooted in a strikingly different environment: one in an autumnal Ivy Town with a clock tower behind it, the other in a cold, futuristic cityscape. The split-world composition is arresting, and the subtitle — "The Man Who Swallowed Eternity" — promises something cosmically ambitious from writer Gail Simone, artist Mike Norton, and inker Andy Owens.
