The Adventures of Jerry Lewis #111

DC's self-proclaimed "America's Funniest Comic Mag!" delivers pure slapstick chaos in this 1969 issue, with cover art by Bob Oksner showing Jerry mid-leap off a cliff's edge — clutching frying pans and dodging clubs — as a pair of rifle-toting hillbillies chase him from behind, while a massive roaring bear waits below amid a pile of bones. Jerry's own thought bubble says it all: "One jump — and I'm safe from these hillbillies!" — blissfully unaware of what's at the bottom. With interior work by Howard Post, Oksner, and letterers Gaspar Saladino and John Costanza, issue #111 promises the kind of gleeful, rubber-limbed comedy that made this series a genuine delight throughout the Silver Age.
