It brings back Oroku Saki as the Shredder, who teams up with Krang, Bebop, Rocksteady, and Baxter Stockman to menace the Turtles and their allies April O'Neil and Splinter. The volume captures the lighthearted, action-packed tone of the show while expanding the TMNT universe for a new generation of readers.
"Return of the Shredder [Part I]" kicks off a high-stakes showdown in the 1989 Archie TMNT Adventures series, with Shredder returning from Dimension X via Krang’s scheming—only to be abandoned with no allies or gear. Left to his own devices, Shredder swiftly commandeers a local dojo, turning its students into decoys dressed as the Turtles to frame them and tarnish their reputation. Written by Christy Marx and David Wise, and brought to life with bold, dynamic art by Dave Garcia—both in the interior and on the cover—this issue sets a clever, tension-filled stage for the Turtles’ latest challenge.

Krang sends Shredder back to Earth from Dimension X to take care of the Turtles but, since he failed to defeat them the last time, he leaves Shredder high and dry with no resources or reinforcements. Shredder quickly takes over a local dojo and uses the students in his anti-Turtle scheme. He has them dress as the Turtles and commit crimes to give our heroes in a half-shell a bad name. Krang thinks this plan is too slow and boring and demands that Shredder speed up his operations.
