Teen Titans #16
Nick Cardy's cover for this 1968 DC issue sets up a genuinely arresting scene: Robin, Kid Flash, and Speedy charge through what appears to be a dimensional rift — a massive, book-like portal — while Wonder Girl is grabbed by a swarm of green-faced, purple-robed alien figures who also mass along the top and sides of the structure. The team looks urgently determined, and the sheer number of adversaries surrounding them gives the cover a real sense of being outnumbered across the boundaries of space itself. "The Dimensional Caper!" is a title that fits the Silver Age DC spirit perfectly, and Cardy's clean, dynamic linework makes this one of the more visually inventive covers of the Teen Titans' early run.
