Superman '78 #6
"Brainiac Conclusion" brings the explosive finale to Robert Venditti’s Superman '78 arc, delivering a high-stakes showdown where Superman confronts Brainiac as the villain’s armor reaches its breaking point. With Wilfredo Torres’ dynamic art and Jordie Bellaire’s vivid colors capturing every pulse of the battle, the issue sees Brainiac’s consciousness leap to a new form just as his skull ship collapses—leaving Metropolis to fall, only to be saved by Superman’s timely intervention. Mikel Janín’s striking cover perfectly caps the moment, as the story closes with a quiet return to normalcy, Clark’s personal life paused just long enough to check on his parents, still preserved in the Fortress of Solitude.

Superman's fight with Brainiac overloads the villain's armor. After Superman evacuates the bottled cities, Brainiac transfers his consciousness to a new body just before his skull ship explodes. No longer levitated by Brainiac's ship, Metropolis begins to fall back to Earth, but Superman slows its descent enough to save all its inhabitants. In the aftermath, things return to normal at the Daily Planet, though Clark's lunch with Lois has to wait until he makes a quick visit to see his folks, kept safe, but still shrunken, back in his fortress.
