Superman #119 (February 1958) promises a complete three-part novel — "The Second Superman!" — and the cover by Curt Swan and Stan Kaye sets the intrigue in motion immediately. Outside the Daily Planet building, Superman urgently restrains a suited man in a hat who appears to be levitating, warning him — "Kell-Or" — never to fly while standing in for Clark Kent, lest the secret identity be exposed. It's a wonderfully tense, character-driven image that hints at the double-identity complications Edmond Hamilton, Wayne Boring, and Stan Kaye bring to life inside.
