Supergirl #70

With a title like "A Plague on Both Your Houses," this July 2002 issue announces its chaotic premise right on the cover: Supergirl is absolutely surrounded — above, below, and on all sides — by dozens of frogs and toads of every size, her wide blue eyes and gloved hands clutching one hapless amphibian conveying equal parts alarm and bewilderment. Leonard Kirk and Robin Riggs deliver a wonderfully offbeat image that feels both genuinely unsettling and quietly comedic at once. Peter David, Todd Nauck, and Robin Riggs close out this era of the series with a sense of playful invention that kept this run so enjoyable.
