“War Crimes”

A tense, fiery composition by Juan Ferreyra sets the stage for this 2016 DC Universe Rebirth special, with Amanda Waller's steely gaze anchoring the foreground as Harley Quinn, Deadshot, and a third operative spring into chaotic action atop what appears to be a giant set of scales. John Ostrander — the writer who defined Task Force X in its earliest days — returns to the Squad for "War Crimes," joined by artist Gus Vazquez, inker Carlos Rodríguez, and colorist Gabe Eltaeb. At $4.99, this oversized special promises a story with real weight behind it, and that cover alone makes a compelling case for picking it up.
