Sugar & Spike #88

Sheldon Mayer's beloved baby duo is back in this March 1970 installment of DC's charming humor series. The cover says it all: Sugar and Spike, bundled up in their winter snowsuits, are perched at the top of a steep sledding hill — and Sugar has already made it very clear whose turn it is to push, calling out "It's YOUR turn to push, Doll-Boy!" while a startled Spike can only manage an exclamation point in response. It's a perfectly timed comic moment that captures exactly why this series, subtitled "Tomorrow's Teen-Agers," won readers over with its gentle wit and Mayer's wonderfully expressive linework.
