Sugar & Spike #87
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeSheldon Mayer's beloved toddler duo returns in this January 1969 DC charmer, and the cover says it all — Sugar stands triumphantly on the back of the sofa, upending a fish bowl in a cascade of water and wiggling fish, while a very put-upon Spike gets soaked below, clutching his pacifier in alarm, and another Sugar (cookies in hand) watches from the cushions. The cover caption — "Jealous? Me? Don't be silly!" — perfectly sets up the mischievous double-Sugar mischief promised by the story title "A Tale of Two Sugars!" It's a wonderful snapshot of why Mayer's warm, witty series earned its subtitle Tomorrow's Teen-Agers and kept young readers grinning throughout its long run.
