Sugar & Spike #83
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeSheldon Mayer's cover for this July 1969 issue of Sugar and Spike is a delightful burst of slapstick chaos — a tiny figure wearing a Superman cape bursts dramatically from a large wooden crate while Sugar, Spike, Bernie the Brain, and two bewildered adults scramble around in comic disarray. A speech bubble proclaims "You won't believe this, boss… it's Superman with a pony-tail!", and the cover copy cheekily dares you to guess which of the five characters shown is the surprise super-kid. It's a wonderfully silly setup that captures exactly the warm, anarchic charm that made Tomorrow's Teen-Agers such a treat throughout its run.
