Sugar & Spike #19
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeSheldon Mayer's cover for this October 1958 DC issue says it all: red-haired Spike is gleefully hauling a string of sausages and clutching a box of flakes while blonde Sugar sits wide-eyed beside a toy play stove, with a grown-up's feet tapping impatiently nearby and a jar of jam already on the floor. "Well — I got the stuff — what do we do NOW?" asks Spike, and Sugar's answer — "er — we RUN!" — perfectly captures the cheerful mischief at the heart of this series. A wonderfully charming snapshot of toddler chaos that makes it easy to see why Sugar and Spike won over so many young readers in 1958.
