Starman Annual #2

Part of DC's 1997 "Pulp Heroes" annuals event, this Starman Annual #2 leans beautifully into the "Young Romance" theme with a cover by Tony Harris that evokes the lush, painted glamour of vintage romance pulps. A dark-haired man holds a golden-haired woman in a shimmering gown beneath a warm amber glow, the cover copy asking pointedly, "Can their love endure the ultimate challenge?" Written by James Robinson with interior art from a talented ensemble including Mitch Byrd and Drew Geraci, it's a wonderfully atmospheric package that proves superhero comics can wear their heart on their sleeve.
