Star Wars: Mace Windu #2
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeStar Wars: Mace Windu #2 is the first comic appearance of several new canon characters — Diya, Muro, Doctor Bishop, and Yaya Shram — who together establish two fresh antagonist factions pursuing the Coaxium Ultra formula: the technology-purging cult the Dusk Weavers of the Had'le Path and a Hutt-backed bounty-hunter crew. The issue deepens the philosophical portrait of a younger Mace Windu, set well before his seat on the Jedi High Council, by forcing him to articulate his Jedi ethics to a morally flexible smuggler — a dynamic that gives the prequel era character more psychological texture than his film appearances typically allowed. As part of a four-issue miniseries commissioned to celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Phantom Menace, this run represents Marvel and Lucasfilm's most sustained solo Mace Windu storytelling in the modern canon era.

The miniseries was announced at the Lucasfilm Publishing panel at New York Comic Con 2023 and conceived explicitly as part of the 25th-anniversary celebration of Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace. Writer Marc Bernardin later confirmed on Instagram that the 1988 film Midnight Run was a key tonal influence on the series — an odd-couple road-movie energy that shapes the Windu/Cruuz pairing throughout. Issue #2 was released on March 13, 2024, with a cover date of May 2024, and the full four-issue run was subsequently collected in the trade paperback Star Wars: Mace Windu — The Twilight Run.
