Spider-Man 2099 #8
Spider-Man 2099 #8 throws the futuristic web-slinger headlong into a churning sea of trouble, as the cover — penciled by Rick Leonardi and inked by Al Williamson — shows the blue-and-red suited hero at the center of a sprawling brawl with a mob of wild-eyed assailants pressing in from every direction. The bold yellow tagline "Attack of the Freakers" tells you exactly what kind of chaos awaits, and Leonardi's dynamic composition makes the whole cover feel like it's barely containing the mayhem. With Peter David at the helm of the "Flight of Fancy" story inside, this 1993 issue is a vivid snapshot of Marvel's vision for a Spider-Man a century ahead of his time.
