Spider-Man 2099 was developed by writer Peter David and artist Rick Leonardi for Marvel's Marvel 2099 imprint, a cyberpunk line conceived out of Spider-Man's 30th anniversary and initially called 'Marvel 2093' before its rebranding. Al Williamson provided inks throughout the early run, giving the book a consistent visual texture. Issue #8 falls within the creative team's foundational eight-issue stretch, the concentrated period in which David established virtually every recurring character, location, and thematic concern that the series would revisit across its entire 46-issue original run.
