Spider-Girl #6
Spider-Girl #6 is a pivotal penultimate chapter in the first solo series centered on Makawalu 'Maka' Akana, Marvel's first Hawaiian Spider-hero in Earth-616 continuity — a character whose Indigenous Pacific Islander heritage and mutant identity mark a meaningful cultural expansion of the Spider-family. The 2025 Spider-Girl series was announced at ComicsPro and launched June 11, 2025, written by Norwegian writer Torunn Grønbekk — previously known for Venom, Carnage, Thor, and Mighty Valkyries at Marvel — and drawn by André Risso, in his Marvel Comics debut. Diogenes Neves took over penciling and inking duties from Risso for the later portion of the run, including issue #6, with Javier Tartaglia providing consistent coloring across the series. The series was edited by Kaitlyn Lindtvedt under executive editor Nick Lowe, and the entire seven-issue run was subsequently collected as the trade paperback Spider-Girl: Breathe Through the Fire.
