Spider-Girl #7 serves as the finale of Makawalu 'Maka' Akana's debut solo series — the first ongoing book to center a Hawaiian-born Spider-hero in the main Marvel continuity (Earth-616). Maka Akana was created by writer Dan Slott and designer Michael Cho, debuting in Spider-Boy #12 before spinning off into her own series written by Torunn Grønbekk — a Norwegian writer who had previously handled Thor, the Valkyries titles, Venom, and Carnage at Marvel — with art primarily by André Risso, and Diógenes Neves taking over pencils for the Hawaii-set arc beginning in issue #6. Issue #7 was edited by Kaitlyn Lindtvedt under executive editor Nick Lowe, with cover art by series cover artist David Nakayama, who cited the character's Hawaiian roots as his personal motivation for joining the project. The seven-issue series concluded with a February 2026 cover date and was collected in the trade paperback Spider-Girl: Breathe Through the Fire, released March 25, 2026.
