Spider-Girl #4
Spider-Girl #4 (September 2025) is a pivotal chapter in the first solo series built around Makawalu 'Maka' Akana — the fourth Earth-616 character to carry the Spider-Girl name — marking a meaningful expansion of Marvel's Spider-Family beyond the science-accident origin template, as Maka is a mutant rather than a radioactively empowered hero. The series was shepherded by writer Torunn Grønbekk — previously known for her work on Venom and Thor — and launched in June 2025 as a direct spin-off from the Spider-Boy title. Issue #4 features pencil and color art by Moisés Hidalgo (filling in from series regular André Risso on linework duties for this chapter) with colors by Javier Tartaglia, lettering by Joe Caramagna, and a cover by David Nakayama. The character of Maka Akana was originally created by Dan Slott and Paco Medina (with Michael Cho credited in some sources for the Spider-Boy run), first appearing as the villain Funhouse before adopting the Spider-Girl identity.
