In "The Secret of Sigurd!", Thor faces a baffling foe when the mysterious Sigurd challenges him to a duel during a walk with Balder and Loki. As Thor strikes him down again and again, Sigurd rises each time with greater strength—until Balder recalls the truth: Sigurd draws power from the Earth Sprites, making him unyielding as long as he's grounded. With a swift move, Thor hurls Sigurd skyward, leaving him stranded on a distant asteroid. The gods continue home, and Loki, thwarted in his hopes of Thor's downfall, is left quietly disgruntled.
