The cover of Spawn #104 tells its own stark, gripping story: a massive, hulking silhouette looms over a battered Spawn, whose red-and-black costume glints defiantly against the cold blue-grey background. Greg Capullo's pencils and Todd McFarlane's inks make brilliant use of shadow and contrast, letting that enormous dark form dominate the composition while Spawn crouches below, chains and cape splayed around him. "Cautionary Tales – Part III: Town Called Malice," brought to life by writer Brian Holguin, Todd McFarlane, and artist Angel Medina, promises exactly the kind of brooding, high-stakes drama that kept Spawn one of Image's most compelling titles in 2001.
