Professor Fink brings in a machine to Bart's class to demonstrate the theory of multiple dimensions. Bart tampers with it, causing the two of them to be sent to another dimension. There they meet Plasmo the Mystic, and Fink helps him defeat Sand Snake. They return to their time, and Plasmo reveals himself to be that dimension's Fink.
