☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis massive black-and-white volume reprints Legion of Super-Heroes stories from Adventure Comics #340-363 and additional tales from other DC titles of the mid-1960s. It captures the team's Silver Age adventures as they battle cosmic threats and navigate teenage drama in the 30th century, featuring classic stories by writer Jim Shooter and artist Curt Swan. The collection showcases the Legion's expanding roster and the development of their futuristic mythology during a defining era for the series.
In "The Super-Tests of the Super-Pets!", the Legion of Super-Heroes journeys to the distant past to uncover the origins of an ancient artifact tied to a forgotten war between Earth and Krypton. As two groups of Legionnaires explore alternate timelines—one witnessing spacefaring Atlanteans and the other tracking Kryptonians fleeing their anti-scientific home—Brainiac 5 uses his intellect to help the Atlanteans adapt to Earth’s atmosphere. Written by Edmond Hamilton and illustrated by John Forte with inks by George Klein, this 2008 Showcase Presents tale features a dynamic cover by Curt Swan and George Klein, blending time-travel intrigue with the early roots of interplanetary conflict.

The Legionnaires travel to the past to find out the story behind an ancient artifact which refers to a war between Earth and Krypton. The half that goes to Earth's past finds space travellers colonizing ancient Atlantis; the other half accompanies a group of Kryptonians who leave anti-scientific Krypton for Earth. While the Atlanteans and Kryptonians fight, Brainiac 5 discovers why Earth's air irritates the Atlanteans and helps them adapt to life under the sea. Later, back in the future, Superboy finds more artifacts that explain what happened to the Kryptonians.
