In "Secret of the Eternal City!", Earth archaeologist Adam Strange is whisked to the distant planet Rann by a mysterious zeta-beam, where he meets the enigmatic Alanna and the brilliant scientist Sardath. As alien invaders known as The Eternals threaten Rann, Adam and Alanna race toward the hidden, floating city of Samakand in search of a legendary life-metal called vitatron—only to find themselves caught in a trap of their own making.

In "The Planet and the Pendulum!", Adam Strange is zapped by the zeta-beam and finds himself on Rann, where he’s captured by tribesmen who believe he’s the harbinger of their "Rainbow Doom." The device meant to execute him instead sends him to Anthorann, where he meets Alanna and Sardath—survivors of a crash from a lost expedition. Armed with a Rann spacesuit and a ray-gun, Adam must defend the dome of New Ranagar from invaders wielding a deadly diamondium pendulum.

In "Invaders from the Atom Universe!", Adam Strange finds himself stranded on a desolate atomic world after being zeta-beamed to Rann—only to discover it overrun by pop-eyed green aliens. In "Vengeance of the Dust Devil!", Adam Strange returns to Rann after intercepting the Zeta Beam at Lake Makadi, unaware he's brought along Jakarta, the last surviving Dust Devil, hidden in his holster from Rhynthar. Now driven by vengeance, Jakarta targets Ranangar, and when the Zeta radiation wears off, Adam must stop the dust devil’s plan to conquer Earth—first in Melbourne, Australia—using only his wits and a Wimshurst Machine to freeze the creature in place.
