In "Starchild," Ilongo investigates a mysterious meteor that crashes into the ocean—only to witness it hatch into a colossal, tentacled sea monster with a giant eye in its mouth, now dubbed the Starchild. As the creature attacks the city of Manakara, Ilongo summons Dangard Ace to battle, but the fight takes a sudden turn when the Starchild evolves mid-battle, sprouting wings and flying off. Meanwhile, in Japan, Genji faces a new threat of his own. Written by Doug Moench and illustrated by Herb Trimpe—with inks by Jack Abel, colors by Carl Gafford, and letters by Gaspar Saladino and Diana Albers—this 1979 issue features a cover by Herb Trimpe and Al Milgrom.

Ilongo goes to investigate the meteor that crashed into the ocean and sees it was a giant egg as it hatches a huge tentacled sea monster with a giant eye in its mouth. Dubbed the "Starchild", the monster surfaces and attacks the city of Manakara. Ilongo calls for Dangard Ace and after entering the robot, battles the monster. During the battle, a building gets damaged. When Dangard Ace has to prop up the building to keep it from falling over leaving himself a sitting duck, the Starchild suddenly evolves by growing wings and flies off. Meanwhile in Japan Genji gets attacked by a giant monster.
