“After Kathy, Part Three: How It All Started”

A strip of photo-booth snapshots dominates this April 1996 DC/Vertigo cover by Duncan Fegredo, each black-and-white frame capturing two figures — one monstrous and distorted, the other dark-haired and wide-eyed — locked together in expressions of wild anguish and intensity. A large hand holds the film strip, while a smaller inset scene along the left edge shows two characters mid-confrontation in a chaotic, paper-strewn room hung with red curtains. Peter Milligan, Richard Case, and Phil Gascoine deliver the penultimate stretch of "After Kathy" here, and Fegredo's cover design — intimate yet deeply unsettling — makes it hard to look away.
