Part five of "A Season in Hell" arrives in this July 1994 DC Vertigo entry from the creative team of Milligan, Bachalo, Buckingham, and Bryant. Duncan Fegredo's cover painting — all rain-soaked moonlight and fractured windowpanes — shows two figures pressing desperately against the glass from outside, their faces twisted with anguish, while unsettling abstract shapes loom at the edges of the frame. The subtitle "Present Tense, Past Imperfect" promises the kind of psychologically layered storytelling this series does so well.
