Mystery Inc. hits the big city in Scooby-Doo #14 (1998), and the subway system is anything but ordinary. Joe Staton's cover sets the scene perfectly: a wide-eyed Shaggy recoils on the platform while Scooby flashes a nervous grin beside him, and leaning out of the departing subway car is a snarling werewolf dressed as a transit worker — with Fred and Daphne apparently already aboard. It's the kind of urban spookiness that makes "I'll Take Manhattan" feel like a thoroughly fun ride through a very haunted New York.
