“The Witch Is Mine!”

The four-issue limited series closes out with a bang in this April 1994 finale, as the cover — penciled by John Higgins — throws Scarlet Witch into a ferocious magical clash against Lore, a wild-haired figure in purple crackling with energy, while a horde of ghastly undead creatures crowds the background. The cover copy spells it out plainly: Lore, a Nexus Being, is on a mission to destroy Wanda, and the collision of hexcraft and raw power depicted here makes clear the stakes are as high as they get. Written by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning with art by John Higgins, this is a satisfying cap to a series that leaned fully into the mystical side of one of Marvel's most compelling characters.
