Runaways #28

Joss Whedon and Michael Ryan's run on Runaways reaches its fourth chapter of "Dead-End Kids" with a cover by Jo Chen that's nothing short of breathtaking — a young red-haired woman in a flowing vintage dress and tall laced boots reaches out to grasp the hand of a dark-suited man as both tumble through a warm, luminous void of swirling color. The tenderness and urgency in that outstretched grip says everything about the stakes without giving a single thing away. A genuinely gorgeous piece of painted work that makes issue #28 a pleasure to pull off the shelf.
