Robin's breezy declaration — "Okay, guys — we're safe now!" — lands with perfect dramatic irony on this November 1997 cover, as he and Batman scramble across rocky terrain while a wall of heavily armed soldiers in red berets and combat gear looms just behind them. Eduardo Barreto's cover art splits the scene brilliantly between the sunlit desperation of the two heroes and the shadowy, rifle-bristling threat closing in around them. With Chuck Dixon kicking off the "Warchild" storyline, this issue promises the kind of globe-trotting, high-stakes adventure that made the solo Robin series such a strong corner of the DC lineup.
