Bill Willingham was recruited to Robin fresh off winning back-to-back Eisner Awards in 2003 for Fables, giving DC a high-profile creative hire for a book that had been handed off from Chuck Dixon at #100 to Jon Lewis, whose run ended at #120. Willingham later acknowledged in interviews that writing a mainline Bat-title required constant editorial coordination across roughly a dozen concurrent Batman comics, constraining his usual creative autonomy. The interior art for the issue was provided by Rick Mays (pencils) and Aaron Sowd (inks), with a cover by Jason Pearson and colors by Guy Major; editor Michael Wright oversaw the transition. The issue shipped with a gatefold cover and included an eight-page preview of the DC series Touch #1.
