“Assault on Precinct Nine”

Part of DC's "One Year Later" initiative, Robin #149 hits the streets in June 2006 with a cover by penciler Ed McGuinness and inker Dexter Vines that crackles with tension. Two Gotham City police officers — a gruff, mustachioed GCPD sergeant in the foreground and a younger cop sweeping his flashlight and drawing his revolver — are clearly on edge, while Robin perches watchfully above them in the rafters of a darkened building, cape billowing. With Adam Beechen writing and Freddie E. Williams II on interior art, "Assault on Precinct Nine" promises a street-level confrontation where the Boy Wonder and Gotham's finest find themselves in very close — and complicated — quarters.
