Robin #128
In "Fired!", Stephanie Brown’s tenure as Robin reaches a breaking point when her defiance during a brutal encounter with the assassin Scarab leads Batman to dismiss her—ordering her to stay off the streets as both Robin and Spoiler. With tension escalating and Tim Drake realizing Batgirl has been sent to protect him, the dynamic between mentor and protégé fractures under the weight of danger and distrust. Written by Bill Willingham and illustrated by Damion Scott, with colors by Guy Major and letters by Phil Balsman, the cover by Damion Scott captures the moment’s intensity.

Batman and Robin seem to have met their match in the assassin Scarab, as she beats them soundly on two occasions. When Scarab realizes Stephanie can't possibly be the target she is contracted to kill, she seems to back off targeting 'Robin'. During the second confrontation, Stephanie disobeys a direct order from Batman to stay put and later Batman fires Stephanie from her role as Robin, ordering her not to go out patrolling as Spoiler either. Elsewhere Tim realizes Batgirl has been sent by Batman to protect him from the assassin.
