A second story, "Baldy of the Snows," recounts how a sled dog named Baldy redeems itself after its team is blamed for a previous accident, ultimately winning a dogsled race despite initial setbacks. The final story depicts a whaling vessel's repeated encounters with a whale that repeatedly escapes, with the crew ultimately unable to capture it.
