A new governess comes to an estate in England and takes care of two children. She later finds out that they had murdered their brother out of jealously. They also witnessed the previous governess Miss Jessel get murdered by her lover, the butler Peter Quint. Quint then committed suicide. The corpses of Jessel and Quint return and take over the bodies of the children. The governess takes the possessed children to their father in London who it turns out has had his body taken over by the murdered brother.
