History

The Princess Leia miniseries was announced at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2014 as one of three flagship Star Wars titles marking Marvel's return to the license after Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm. Editor Jordan D. White sought out Mark Waid specifically because Waid had expressed that Leia was his favorite Star Wars character, and Marvel editor-in-chief Axel Alonso publicly cited the publisher's commitment to diversity as a driving reason to center a solo series on her. Penciller Terry Dodson, whose wife Rachel Dodson provided inks throughout, brought his fashion-conscious, character-expressive linework to the book and has spoken about his enthusiasm for following the rich costuming traditions of both the original and prequel films. The five-issue run — including this issue, released March 18, 2015 — was later collected in a trade paperback on November 3, 2015.
