Preacher #11

A lone cowboy figure wearing a sheriff's star sits solemnly atop what appears to be a submerged stone sarcophagus, the eerie blue-green depths of an underwater wreck stretching out behind him — it's a hauntingly surreal image that sets the tone perfectly for Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon's wild, boundary-pushing series. Glenn Fabry's painted cover work here is quietly breathtaking, balancing melancholy and grit in a way that feels wholly unique to Preacher. Issue #11, "Pardners," continues one of Vertigo's most compelling rides of 1996.
