“The Inferior Decorator”

In "The Inferior Decorator," Cicero’s excitement over landing a role in Captain Hanky Hog’s showboat production of “Uncle Tom’s Cabin” quickly fades when he’s assigned to play Little Eva. When a black eye forces a last-minute switch, Porky is reluctantly pressed into wearing the curly wig—only to flee at the last moment, accidentally stumbling into the clutches of two hillbillies who mistake him for a lost little girl. Written by Don R. Christensen and illustrated by Phil De Lara, with lettering by Rome Siemen and colors by the Western Publishing Production Shop, this 1970 issue features a cover by Pete Alvarado.

Cicero is delighted to get an important part in Captain Hanky Hog’s showboat presentation of “Uncle Tom’s Cabin”, but that changes when he finds that he is to be Little Eva. When Cicero suffers a black eye, Captain Hanky puts the curly wig on Porky, and insists that the show go on. Porky ducks out at the last moment, rather than be seen by Petunia, Elmer, and Bugs, only to be mistaken for a lost little girl by a pair of hillbillies.
